FiveM / RedM: "Couldn't load resource" when joining a server

Server-side — not your PC

Couldn't load resource

A script or content pack on the server didn't download or load correctly. Usually it's the server's problem, but a corrupted cache on your end can cause it too, so clear that first.

Why it happens

Servers are built from 'resources' (scripts, maps, vehicles). The error names the resource that failed. If the server owner added or updated it incorrectly, everyone gets this error. If your downloaded copy is damaged, only you do.

How to fix it

  1. Write down the resource name in the error message.
  2. Clear your cache: close FiveM (or RedM) and delete the 'cache', 'server-cache' and 'server-cache-priv' folders inside its Application Data\data folder (%localappdata%\FiveM\FiveM.app\data or %localappdata%\RedM\RedM.app\data).
  3. Add the FiveM or RedM folder to your antivirus exclusions, so it can't block or quarantine downloaded files.
  4. Reconnect. If you get the same error with the same resource name, it's on the server's side.

Still broken?

Send the server's staff the exact error and resource name. They need to fix or remove that resource. Check their Discord, since others may already be reporting it.
