RedM stuck on the loading screen (music playing) when joining a server
Fixable on your PCRedM itself opens, but joining a server leaves you on the loading screen with music playing forever. Usually the server's content is still downloading, your cache is corrupted, or antivirus is blocking the download.
Why it happens
When you join a RedM server, it downloads that server's custom content in the background while the loading screen and music play. Big servers can take several minutes on the first join. If the download stalls, your cached copy is corrupted, or antivirus locks the files mid-download, you stay stuck.
How to fix it
- On a first-time join, give it up to 10 minutes. Big servers download a lot of content the first time.
- Clear RedM's cache: close RedM, open %localappdata%\RedM\RedM.app\data and delete the 'cache', 'server-cache' and 'server-cache-priv' folders. Don't delete anything else.
- Add your RedM folder and your Red Dead Redemption 2 install folder to your antivirus exclusions.
- Make sure the drive with RedM has plenty of free space (at least 10 GB).
- Close leftover Rockstar Games Launcher and RDR2 processes in Task Manager, then start RedM again.
- Try a different server. If others load fine, the server you were joining is likely having trouble. Check its Discord.
Still broken?
If no server loads and RedM itself hangs, follow the 'RedM won't load or hangs after RDR2 works fine' fix below, which covers OneDrive and launcher problems.

A script or content pack on the server didn't download or load correctly. Usually it's the server's problem, but a corrupted cache on your end can cause it too, so clear that first.
