FiveM / RedM: "Error generating ROS entitlement token"

Fixable on your PC

Error generating ROS entitlement token

FiveM couldn't confirm that you own GTA V (or RDR2 for RedM). The number in the error tells you why. A 500-range number usually means Cfx's servers are having trouble; other numbers usually mean a connection problem on your end.

Why it happens

Before it starts, FiveM checks your game ownership with Rockstar through Cfx's servers. The number after 'token:' is the reason it failed. A 500, 502, 504, or 530 means the check failed on their side. 'Could not resolve host' is a DNS problem, and 'connection refused' or an SSL error means something on your PC or network blocked the check.

How to fix it

  1. Read the number after 'token:' in the error. If it's 500, 502, 504, or 530, the problem is usually on Cfx's side. Wait 15 to 30 minutes and try again, and check the FiveM Discord or status page for outage notices.
  2. Make sure you're signed in to the Rockstar Games Launcher (and Steam or Epic, if that's where you own the game) with the account that owns GTA V or RDR2.
  3. Launch FiveM as a normal user, not 'Run as administrator'. If you set the shortcut to always run as admin, untick that under Properties > Compatibility.
  4. If the error says 'could not resolve host', switch to a public DNS (for example 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8) in your network adapter settings.
  5. If it mentions an SSL or certificate problem, check that your PC's date, time, and time zone are set automatically, then turn off any HTTPS or web-scanning feature in your antivirus and try again.
  6. Turn off any VPN or proxy, then restart FiveM.

Still broken?

If it keeps failing for hours with a 500-range number, post on the Cfx forum with the full error and report ID. For other numbers, try a different network (like a phone hotspot) to rule out your router or ISP.
